BYPASS FILTER ELEMENTS: ULTRA-FINE FILTRATION FOR EXTENDED OIL LIFE
Remove Sub-Micron Contaminants That Standard Filters Miss.

High-Capacity Depth Filtration Element for Varnish & Sludge Removal
The Concept:
Unlike standard "full-flow" filters that process 100% of the oil at once (limiting them to coarse filtration to avoid pressure drop), a Bypass Filter System continuously draws a small portion (typically 10-20%) of the oil from the main tank, passes it through an ultra-fine filter element, and returns the cleaned oil back to the reservoir.
How It Works:
Imagine a swimming pool with a main drain (Full-Flow) and a separate, high-power purification pump (Bypass). While the main drain handles large debris, the purification pump runs continuously, slowly removing microscopic algae and bacteria. Over time, the entire pool becomes crystal clear.
Similarly, while your main system filter protects the pump from large particles, the Bypass Filter Element works continuously in the background to remove:
Soft sludge and varnish.
Microscopic wear metals.
Water emulsions.
Particles as small as 1 micron or less.
Understanding the difference is key to optimizing your maintenance strategy.
| FEATURE | FULL-FLOW FILTER | BYPASS FILTER (OUR FOCUS) |
|---|---|---|
| Flow Rate | 100% of system flow | 10-20% of system flow (Continuous) |
| Filtration Precision | Coarse to Medium (10μm - 25μm) | Ultra-Fine (1μm - 5μm) |
| Primary Goal | Protect components from immediate damage | Extend oil life & Remove sludge |
| Pressure Drop | Must be low to avoid restriction | Can be higher (dedicated pump) |
| Contaminant Removal | Hard particles (sand, metal chips) | Soft contaminants (varnish, soot, water) |
| Maintenance Cycle | Frequent replacement required | Extended oil drain intervals |
Our elements are engineered for maximum dirt-holding capacity and sub-micron efficiency.
Technology: We utilize multi-layered cellulose, glass fiber, or synthetic composite media.
Mechanism: Unlike surface filters that trap particles on the outside, our depth filters capture contaminants throughout the entire thickness of the media.
Result: Exceptional dirt-holding capacity and the ability to trap particles significantly smaller than the nominal rating.
The Problem: Oxidation and heat create soft, sticky varnish that clogs valves and reduces heat exchange efficiency. Standard filters cannot catch this.
Our Solution: Our ultra-fine bypass elements effectively adsorb and trap these soft oxidation byproducts, keeping valve spools moving freely and heat exchangers clean.
Capability: Certain media types in our bypass elements are hydrophilic or designed to coalesce free and emulsified water.
Benefit: Removing water prevents rust, corrosion, and oil degradation, significantly extending the life of both the oil and the machinery.
Oil Life Extension: By maintaining ultra-clean oil (ISO 14/12/10 or better), you can often double or triple your oil change intervals.
Component Life: Cleaner oil means less wear on pumps, valves, and bearings, reducing unplanned downtime and spare part costs.
Disposal Costs: Less frequent oil changes mean less waste oil to dispose of, lowering environmental compliance costs.
Our bypass filter elements are ideal for critical systems where reliability and oil longevity are paramount.
Hydraulic Power Units (HPU): Especially those operating in high-temperature or high-cycle environments.
Turbine Lube Oil Systems: Preventing varnish buildup on servo valves.
Gearboxes and Transmissions: Removing wear metals and soot.
Mobile Equipment: Excavators, cranes, and mining trucks operating in dusty conditions.
Marine Engines: Dealing with soot and fuel contamination.
Since bypass filters operate on a separate circuit, monitoring their status is straightforward.
Differential Pressure Gauge: Most bypass housings are equipped with a visual gauge. When the pressure drop across the element reaches the red zone, it is time to replace the element.
Time-Based Replacement: In systems without gauges, we recommend replacing the element based on operating hours (e.g., every 500-1000 hours) or during scheduled oil analysis.
Oil Analysis: Regular oil sampling is the best way to verify the effectiveness of your bypass filtration. A trend of decreasing particle counts confirms the element is working correctly.
Precision Engineering: Our elements meet or exceed OEM performance specifications for Beta ratios and dirt holding capacity.
Custom Solutions: We can tailor media types (cellulose, glass, synthetic) to your specific contamination challenges (water, varnish, or dust).
Global Interchangeability: Our dimensions and sealing technologies match major brands (Pall, Hydac, Parker, MP Filtri, etc.), ensuring a direct fit.
Technical Support: We don't just sell filters; we help you optimize your entire lubrication strategy.
